In one of the last Routledge Handbook of Placemaking events of the year, IPM hosts a conversation between placemaking educators and Section Editors of the Handbook. This is the third event in the series exploring various themes within the Routledge Handbook of Placemaking, with previous sessions covering the problematisation of placemaking and placemaking on the high street. This up and coming session will cover the often-hidden placemaking practice of its teaching and learning, in conversation with students of place.
What is taught of placemaking, and how? Does formal education differ from informal education? How does the experience of the classroom differ from that of the street? Can such a practice ever be taught? What is its strength and what is absent from placemaking pedagogy?
Each panel member will present their placemaking pedagogy and will then be posed questions by place students from the UK, Ireland and USA. The session will then open to a group conversation.
