Elected as a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Place Management

I am delighted – somewhat overwhelmed in fact! – to announce that I have been elected as a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Place Management, at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK.

In their words, as I’m feeling too bashful to say this myself: The election of a Senior Fellow is always based upon the unanimous decision of our existing Senior Fellows. It is the highest level of membership of the Institute and carries the post-nominal letters SFIPM. It is a bestowed honour, based upon achievements that have had a profound impact upon the practice, study or policies of place management and leadership. Your Senior Fellowship recognises the outstanding contribution you have made to our profession, your work, and tenacity…’

Membership of the Institute of Place Management represents a commitment to the progression of the place management industry, through continuing personal development and achieving the highest standard of professional performance. Senior Fellows are international ambassadors for the place management profession and subject area and amplify the achievements of the members - who work with energy and passion serving the needs of places and their communities. They stress the importance of professional place management and leadership and lead by example when it comes to their integrity and commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning. Senior Fellows are also critical friends to the IPM Directors providing direction, constructive challenge and support.

Suffice to say, I am incredibly grateful that my arts and placemaking work has been recognised, and I am immeasurably looking forward to being a part of IPM’s activity and development. Its an incredible engine room of place thought leadership, and an incredible team, and a stellar cohort of Senior Fellows.
